Aging is such a beautiful process and I’m embracing it fully, but I don’t want it showing up on my skin. Wrinkles, laugh lines, crow’s feet and rough skin texture can all happen as you get older, but of course your favorite esthetician has a few anti-aging skin tricks to slow time down a little. I do these as part of my personal skincare routine so I really hope you give these tips a try.
Anti-aging skincare tips
1. Wear. Your. Sunscreen.I say this a lot as an esthetician and I still can’t stress it enough. Sunscreen is your skin’s best friend at any age, but especially as you get older and are more prone to the compound effects of being exposed to the sun appearing on your face. The sun’s rays can make wrinkles and fine lines worse, so I advise everyone of every age to make sunscreen a part of your morning routine, and reapply every 2-3 hours. If you take away nothing else, do this!
2. Choose foods and products that are rich in antioxidants.
Antioxidants are a substance that has been shown to slow down cell damage caused by processed food and a harmful internal environment. UV rays, smoking, cancer, and disease caused by inflammation in the body are examples of oxidant-causing events. Antioxidants neutralize the body and help to boost overall health, including skin health. Fruits and veggies are great for antioxidants, so load your plates up. It is extremely beneficial to apply antioxidants to your skin, so look for cleansers, moisturizers, and serums that lead with antioxidants as the main ingredient.
3. Stay hydrated inside and out.
Your body loves water. It doesn’t mind if you drink it, eat it, or wear it on your skin, but you should do all three to keep aging signs away. When you make water-dense fruits and veggies your lifestyle and drink half your bodyweight in ounces of water every day, your skin is less dry, more supple, and less prone to breakouts. Top that with a lightweight moisturizer (loaded with antioxidants, of course!) to attack dry, wrinkly skin from both ends.
I love living, I love getting older and gaining more experience, and I love to keep people guessing how old I am :-) Try these tips for 30 days and tell me how they work for you!
