3 simple ideas that will spark a glow for your skin and your romance.
Love is a beautiful thing! And when you combine self love and skincare with a little romance, I mean, what’s better than that?
Listen, I love doing these kinds of things with my husband (not shocking!) and these are some of the best memories and experiences that we share. That’s because skincare is an intimate, calming thing when we allow it to be, and when we share that with someone we love, it’s 10 times bigger.
Here are some of my faves.
Cook a skin-friendly romantic dinner
The first things we tend to go to when we’re ready to crank up the romance are booze and dessert. These things also cause inflammation in the body, which leads to oily skin, breakouts, and dark spots later on. Instead, make a delicious dinner together with whole foods on the menu.
I love a good sexy salmon dinner. Salmon is such a great source of inflammation quenching omega 3. Incorporating it into our diet a few times a week helps support brain health and helps provide a nice rotation of nutrients in the form of a very easy bioavailable (and delicious) protein source!
MAPLE GINGER SALMON
- 4x 4oz (approx.) filets of wild Salmon
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 2 tbsp tamari
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp minced ginger
In a dish, whisk maple syrup, tamari, ginger, garlic, and black pepper together to make a marinade. Cover your fish with marinade and let sit for 30 mins or so. Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
Apply each other’s face masque
This one is always fun, especially if it isn’t something your boo does often and it’s a new experience. A good decongesting masque is so refreshing, and they’ll be so impressed with how quickly their skin’s texture improves, face masques may become a regular thing for you two!
Give each other an at-home facial
Ok, this works best when you go all out to set the mood! A great facial is just as much about the sensuality of the environment as it is about how your face feels. Have the aroma of your favorite essential oils in the air. Dim the lights and play some soft music. Then break out your skincare essentials and create an intimate moment while you care for your boo’s skin. Pro tip: cryotherapy is very soothing and can easily happen at home!
