4 Ways to Keep Glowing Skin This Winter

It’s getting colder, y’all!

We love the colder months for all things pumpkin spice, autumn-colored, and warm and cozy. Now that we’re all ready to pull out the fall decorations, let’s add another seasonal shake-up to the mix: your skin care routine.

Yep, the colder months mean we need to switch up our routine a little to protect our skin from changes in the weather. Sometimes winter weather can be drier and causes our skin to lose its glowing moisture. Here are four ways you can prepare your skin for the colder months.

Hydrate from the inside out

What you put in your body is just as important as what you put on your skin when it comes to keeping your skin moisturized. Try to drink half of your weight in ounces of water. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, try to drink 75 ounces of water a day to stay properly hydrated inside and out. Remember, your body is made up of mostly water and what you digest shows up on your face!

Invest in a humidifier

Our skin loves to be kept moist, especially while we sleep and our skin is doing most of its rejuvenating. It’s helpful to invest in a room humidifier during the colder months that you can use in your bedroom at night. Your skin will like that.

Add another layer of serum

Depending on your skin type, your routine should include a layer of moisturizer that is similar to the oil your skin naturally produces. If you notice your skin is drying out with the weather change, add another layer of serum to your routine either at night or in the morning. PRO TIP: You want a serum that really secures the moisture in your skin to get that dewy look. Our Hydragel Serum has hylauronic acid--a hydrating molecule found naturally within your skin that can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water to keep your skin looking and feeling moisturized.

Wear sunscreen everyday. Every. Day.

Whether it’s raining and cloudy, snowy, or if you’re staying inside all day, WEAR SUNSCREEN. Thankfully the sun is always out whether we see it or not, so we have to make sure we’re protecting our skin at all times. And re-apply during the day!
