How to Layer Your Skincare Routine - Skin by Brownlee & Co.

How to Layer Your Skincare Routine

We know introducing a new product into the mix or adding a new routine altogether can be daunting and for some overwhelming. But don't worry we got you!

Here's a little cheat sheet to layering your SKIN by Brownlee & Co skincare products

A step-by-step breakdown of a good skincare routine

STEP ONE

PRE-CLEANSE (optional)

If you wear makeup daily, first–start with our Pure Pre Cleanser

In fact Huff Post recently featured our Pure Pre Cleanser and listed it as top pre-cleanser that professional makeup artists swear by. A pre-cleanser is exactly what it sounds like: it cleanses the skin and preps it for treatment, and washes away dirt, grime, and makeup.

STEP TWO

CLEANSE

Cleansing removes any impurities that are present in the pores. It helps to prevent breakouts, reduces the appearance of pores, and prepares the skin for toning.

For sensitive skin: Balancing Face CleanserPower Peptide Cleanser

For acne-prone skin: HydraMandelic CleanserPower Peptide Cleanser Balancing Face Cleanser

For mature skin: Power Peptide Cleanser

STEP THREE

TONE

Toning helps to restore the skin's pH balance, and it removes any leftover impurities that were not removed by the cleansing step. Toning is critical as it prepares the skin for treatment and enhances the effectiveness of other skincare products.

For all skin types (sensitive/normal/combination/oily): Cucumber Aloe Mist

For acne-prone skin: HydraSal Toner

For reducing fine lines/wrinkles: Power A Serum

For brightening: Illuma Face Toner

STEP FOUR

TREAT

This step involves using targeted treatments, such as serums or spot treatments, to address specific skin concerns such as dark spots or hyperpigmentation. Treating is vital as it improves the overall appearance of the skin and addresses specific skin concerns.

For reducing acne breakouts: Blemish Chaser 10

For treating hyperpigmentation: Power Peptide Moisturizer

For reducing fine lines/wrinkles: Antioxidant Hydracream

STEP FIVE

MOISTURIZE

Moisturizing helps to keep the skin hydrated and prevents moisture loss. It nourishes the skin and improves its texture, making it look healthy and radiant. Moisturizing is essential as it helps to support the skin's natural barriers and protects it from environmental stressors.

For sensitive skin: Aloe Protect Face Moisturizer

For acne-prone skin: HydraBalance MoisturizerPower Peptide Moisturizer

For mature skin: Power Peptide Moisturizer

STEP SIX

PROTECT

Protecting involves using SPF to shield the skin from UV rays and environmental stressors such as pollution. It is the last step in the routine and is critical as it helps to prevent sun damage, premature aging, and hyperpigmentation.

And trust when we say our PBS UV Shield 30 Sunscreen is the G.O.A.T.! With a broad-spectrum SPF 30, PBS UV ensures effective protection against both UVA and UVB rays, and itts oil-free formula allows for a lightweight and non-greasy application, making it perfect for all skin types, including oily and acne-prone skin.

The short version

If you're in a hurry, then stick to Cleansing (step 2), Moisturizing (step 5), and Protecting (step 6). These three steps will help to keep you keep breakouts at bay, ensure your skin is nourished and hydrated, while protecting against harmful UV rays and environmental stressors.
