Are you confused about what skincare products to buy?
Seriously, it can be hard to narrow down exactly what your skin needs if you’re trying to treat more than one challenge. Do products for acne and dark spots help with dry skin? How do you prioritize which skin challenge to treat first on your journey?
My new clients ask this question a lot, and it’s one I get a lot of feedback from when people are looking to purchase one of our skincare kits.
First, treat dry/oily skin
First we want to treat the barrier of the skin. If it's dry or dehydrated, we want to get it to a normal hydrated state for best results.
Then treat breakouts or flare ups.
That’s acne, psoriasis, eczema, or anything that breaks out on the skin. Prioritize treating that first so you can stop new blemishes from appearing and improve your skin’s condition from there.
IMPORTANT: Even if you only have a few breakouts a month, still prioritize treating the cause first before you work on clearing any dark spots. Even one dark spot a month is 12 dark spots a year. Once you control the breakouts, the side effects will be much easier to manage.
And now, dark spots
I know, you probably wanted to start here first but I can’t stress enough that treating the root cause of dark spots first is key to getting results. If you start with treating dark spots, you’ll only end up treating new ones over and over again. Trust me on this!
